A.B.E. (Adult Basic Education)
Santa Rita Jail - Only
- Teaches skills for those working towards receiving the
G.E.D.
Anger Management
- Intervention techniques are taught through counseling,
recognizing and controlling anger, communication techniques, stress reduction,
changing behavior patterns, and follow-up upon release.
COMPUTER Minimum Security and CDC State Inmates
- Beginning word processing and keyboarding. Basic
tools designed to enhance job skills.
D.A.D.S. Dads Acquiring & Developing Skills (Minimum
Security)
- A special program designed to help single and
married men to think differently about their roles as fathers and
become more involved with their children. Custodial and
non-custodial men with children under 18 may apply.
D.E.U.C.E. (Deciding, Educating, Understanding,
Counseling and Evaluation)
- D.E.U.C.E. is a substance abuse program, which address
addictive behaviors and lifestyles. This 60 day course offers counseling,
pharmacology and relapse prevention through personal development.
E.S.L. (English as a Second Language)
Santa Rita Jail - Only
- Designed to improve English language conversation, and
writing skills for foreign language speakers.
G.E.D. (General Equivalency Diploma)
- For the student who needs his or her high school
diploma, testing administered monthly through Amador Adult Education.
Independent Study Santa Rita Jail
- Only
- Independent Study is for students wishing to earn high
school credits, or improve the skills necessary to pass their G.E.D.
test.
Literacy Santa Rita Jail - Only
- This is a one-on-one tutorial program sponsored by the
Alameda County Library for those students who need to improve their reading
and writing skills.
MOMS (Maximizing Opportunities for Mothers to
Succeed) Santa Rita Jail - Only

Works to promote healthy parenting
and reduced recidivism for incarcerated mothers.

Works to reunite families.
-
Case Manager assigned to assist mothers to transition from a custodial setting
to the community.

Housing opportunity available for women who have successfully completed the
program.
R.O.P. (Regional Occupational Programs)
Santa Rita Jail - Only
- Basic Computer Skills Course
- Food Service (male and female)
- Bakery (male and female)
- Cosmetology (female)
- Barbering (male)
The above programs (4) will teach the skills necessary to earn a certificate in Food Services, Cosmetology, or Barbering.
- Employability
This program teaches the necessary skills to prepare a resume and develope interviewing skills with the ultimate goal of job placement.
T.A.L.K. (Teaching and Loving Kids)
Santa Rita Jail - Only
- T.A.L.K. teaches positive parenting through
self-esteem, basic child development, and child bonding. Contact visits are
offered after four consecutive classes.

"Starts with a
Story"
“Start With a Story”, a project of the
Alameda County Library, delivers story
times, free books, and family literacy
activities to children, ages 1-16 years old, who
visit at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, and at
the Glenn Dyer Jail in downtown Oakland.
Every third week to all housing units.

The inmate telephone services are provided by Global Tel*Link.

Please note: Refunds must be requested within 90 days of the account’s last use. An administrative fee of $5.00 will be deducted from the remaining balance before refund. Accounts that remain inactive for over 90 days will be automatically dissolved.
