The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Human Resources Section is dedicated to providing the best law enforcement personnel services to its employees and applicants. The Human Resources Section is part of the Management Services Division and is under the direction of the Human Resources Manager. There are
three components to this section: Personnel Services; Labor Relations; and Workers’ Compensation management.
| Personnel Services: |
(510) 272-6930 |
The Personnel Unit is responsible for providing a wide array of personnel services to the employees of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. They conduct employment interviews for professional and sworn staff, coordinate civil service examinations and follow the required policies and procedures for hiring new employees. They monitor and assist in the creation of the department’s job classifications, maintain personnel files, update the Human Resources Management System, and are responsible for providing the proper documentation for both CALEA and ACA accreditations.
| Labor Relations: |
(510) 272-6492 |
A representative from Human Resources participates at the bargaining table during contract negotiations with various Labor organizations to represent the interests of the Sheriff’s Office. Meet and confer sessions are conducted regarding issues of interest and concern to the unions and the department. Human Resources is the point of contact for Labor representatives to obtain information about or to voice concerns pertaining to agency personnel policies.
| Workers’ Compensation: |
(510) 891-3388 |
The Sheriff’s Office takes a very proactive approach to the management of Workers’ Compensation claims. We maintain contact with the injured employee and provide assistance with medical claims, doctor appointments, and general caseload management. We make every effort to return employees to duty in a limited capacity when released by their doctor and pending full recovery.
